Standardization of all HUB pages
Good Evening All,
As you can probably see, I have been quite busy of late with the Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia section. The reason for my new post is to hopefully garner the support of standardizing all HUB pages as follows;
All HUB Pages MUST contain
- Background Heading
- Plot Heading
- Gameplay Heading
- Audio Heading
- Latest Forum Posts
- Succession Table
- HUB Header (I'll develop these)
- Neoseeker profile tab
- Be added to the Category: Games
This should form the crux of every single game HUB page, and then from there the other pages should branch off.

My name's Matt Addison. Some of you may know me, and some of you may not. I have been a proud member of the Neoseeker Community for around about five years now and have recently discovered that a Castlevania Wiki exists. As such, and due to a recent purchase of Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, I have decided to lend a hand - as I think some of the pages do need to be sorted out and standardised. I guess though, to begin with, each section needs to be fully fleshed out first.
Leading by example, I have amended the home page to reflect a box that will constantly be edited whenever a new title comes out, so that the most recently released title is always shown, with a redirct to that particular product page so that new users and browsers may automatically have a direct link to the most recently released game in the series. Hopefully it should be of some use.
As for individual pages, if you take Order of Ecclesia for example, I have given it a header and also customized a template to which will hopefully standardise a generic breakdown of each facet of the game (and I hope, will be used across all the other game titles). As to the exact layout of how the categories should be broken down to display (as some will be sub-standard across all Castlevania titles) - by that I mean Characters, Equipment, Monsters, Music etc... perhaps those such should be listed on the left hand side, and anything in addition that's unique to a game should then be subsequently listed? I am undecided on this and would appreciate your opinion.
I have cleaned up the Villagers page as well to include the way in which they are recruited, their vocal quotes, and also a little more back history on them in relation to their dialogue exchanges with Shanoa. Hopefully, it will give the pages a little more depth, once completed. It is important to note though, that anything written into the Wiki should not be second guessed and should always comes straight from the game. It is not the job of an individual to make assumptions as to certain elements of a character as this would deem the Wiki unreliable. So if you are to make any changes, can we please keep to ensuring that anything written is an actual fact. If something needs be speculated on, it should be clearly stated that the fact is not thus and is an uncertainty.
As I work my way through the game, I have been composing lists of equipment that can be found as well as items. I am unsure as to how these should be sorted on the individual page, but believe that each specific item should have it's own page to which can be referenced to other Castlevania titles (for example, if a specific item may appear in multiple titles such as the Cross item.
I also believe that the controls of a title should also be laid out - and perhaps if at all possible, perhaps maybe the instruction booklet could be transcribed to it's own individual page? These are ideas that I am just throwing out there, and would appreciate any comments.
As for this Talk Page, can we use this to converse on all elements of the Wiki and the specific pages should a change need to be made to a specific object? That way everything is centralised. I would also appreciate if people could categorise their comments into categories, or new strings of conversation should the subject differ. This is done by using a == on either side of the text used to stipulate a heading. If the newest could always also be placed at the top, it would save on having to scroll down a whole bunch of old stuff. Can we please also try to date stamp our comments, and also sign with our Users, with a link to our User Page. This way, I believe the Wiki can begin moving forward and hopefully head into the direction of being an 'Excellent' Wiki, as opposed to the 'Level 1' that it is. :)
I look forward to working with you all.
Thanks for your time.

All great ideas Matt Addison, I'm loving what you and Dark Arcanine are bringing to the CV Wiki. Haha, I was just thinking of making OoE the spotlight page, great minds think alike!--Kudzuka 20:59, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Awesome. Thank you for your response. I was beginning to wonder if anyone else looked at this place at all - considering that I've had little success in garnering interest for my Suikoden Wiki. At least there are still people around here. We should try to promote the place a little more, perhaps through the Neoseeker Forums?
As for changing the main page layout colour scheme, I notice that you created a dummy page for the tests t be conducted on. I had a look and I think the colours are a little too radical. Perhaps maybe light shades of red for the box backgrounds and a darker more Crimson for the headings with White heading text? And of course, leave the background as a whole, white. That should be a little more easy on the eyes? If I get too bored, I may play around a little with it myself. :) But if you want to do it, it's up to you. Also - I love the candles. :)
I also noticed that Castlevania: Symphony of the Night has pages from the bestiary composed with an image that's an excerpt from the actual monster guide in the game. I think we should maybe try to flesh these out a little more too?
I was also thinking that for the actual equipment pages that I am editing in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia that perhaps at this stage it looks a little untidy, and maybe we could somehow obtain little pips of the stat texts and actual element images that are in the game, so that they can be inserted in the table along the top, and then the numbered stat, or a tick could be placed in the corresponding cell, to each individual piece of equipment and item. This would also work well for monsters too.
As for the changing of the main page for the spotlighted stuff, good work. I think it looks a little neater the way you did it. Although perhaps in future we can look at once a week changing the spotlighted page so that it displays an excellent fully fleshed out page as opposed to an actual game. At this point, I don't think there's any real reason to do that though, as none of the pages are particularly exemplary and whilst some are quite fleshed out, they are certainly not complete.
Anyway, that's my two cents. :)

Nice outlook. The looks changed much since it first started. ^^ Hera 11:26 30th March, 2009 ___
What do you guys think of a AR/Gameshark section? I've seen it in the Pokemon Wiki, so why not here? -Twilight
I don't see any reason not to, sounds good to me, do it! I don't know much about gameshark stuff though, so I probably won't be able to help very much. -_- <-Kudzuka->
I've started working on GameShark codes.
Kudzuka, can you work on Action replay Codes, and I'll ask either Dragon or Siggnit to work on Code Break codes. -Twilight
ok I'll give it a shot. -Kudzuka
Nah maybe not, i get everything first and then make new file for an AR I really hate early game AR user X_X
Jonathan Morris, please, please if your going to edit please use correct grammar and spelling. I'm getting tired of editing your edits because they have incorrect grammar, or spelling issues. I've told you this already. -Twilight
Main Page Color Scheme
What do think of the prototype color scheme I started?
I can't figure out how to change the font color on Gamegrep News, Recent Changes, user names etc. --Kudzuka 09:59, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Nice job, I like it. ;)
Thanks, I stayed up all night trying to come up with decent combination. It still needs some tweaking though, should be ok for now. --Kudzuka 10:47, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Is it just me or is the header not centred?
I left it that way. I'm not too sure about how do it so I decided not to mess with it. We need a new welcome header anyway. >.< --Kudzuka 12:12, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
To be honest, I don't like it. It kind of puts strain on my eyes.
Also, Kudzuka, before you do this to the main page, please make a 2nd main page as test before setting it up. -Twilight
Yes as I said before it needs some "tweaking", but unfortunately I dont know how to change the link colors on GameGrep news/Recent Changes/User names.
Ok, what should I name the page? --Kudzuka 14:17, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
R1DDL3S tried it with MainPageV2, so go for V3.
Making another page for testing things make it so we don't have to make the page again if something gets deleted, ect.
K, thanks. I'm gonna go put it in and go to bed. --Kudzuka 14:27, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
If the black text was that yellow colour it would be less straining on the eyes, and links another colour again.
Don't worry Milotic, I'll revert the main page back to the boring/old/standard white and blue sometime tomarrow.
The black text looks great on my monitor (or to my eyes?), but I guess thats just me. I think if the normal text were gold it would just be a bit too much. I think it looks better when used sparingly, like the trim on Alucard's clothing, plus it looks great against red. I was going for a regal/gothic feel with choices of black, red and gold. I tried to chose the dullest variations of red and gold I could find.
Maybe if the background was black the combo would work better? But if the font were red it would put further strain on the eyes. Maybe the normal font should be gold, and links red.
What about the candles? The candles rock amirite?
Anybody got any ideas for MainPageV4? --Kudzuka 08:00, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
I'm Quite Delighted
I'm quite delighted to see so much work from the both of you, Kuduzka and ShinyMilotic, in your interest to help the Castlevania Wiki grow. I hope you continue with yout contributions. -Twilight
Thanks, I wonder what the reason for that is :shifty:. But yeah, I will hopefully keep editing the wiki, there is plenty of stuff still to add. -ShinyMilotic
Congratulations Kudzuka for winning the Castlevania Contest.
Haha, thanx Twilight. =]
And on you being delighted by my contribs/hoping I will continue, I was editing the Castlevania wiki BEFORE the contest was created, remember?
Also I will never abandon you and the Wiki, and always remember I am willing help with anything you specifically ask me to work on.--Kudzuka 02:34, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
I asked for a demotion yesterday guys, so I won't be there to help you when needed. Ask Siggnit when you need help. - Twilight
I've personally asked Sniggit to look over the Wiki since Dragon and Price of Ice don't usually check this place often. -Twilight ___
I just wanted to place here some congratulations to Dark Arcanine for his recent promotion to this Wiki. I know he's been after a position like this for quite some time. Also, I have recently acquired Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia and as such will be contributing to that portion of the Wiki. ^_^ -- Matt Addison
