Background
Gilles de Rais is Dracula's vampire servant in Castlevania 64 and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness. He is a non playable character, and is fought against as a boss in these games. His style of fighting involves sucking blood, scratching with his nails and shooting breaths of fire.
He first appears in Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness where he is walking toward Castle Keep to join in the 1844 resurrection of Dracula, also involving Actrise and Death. His name is mentioned later in time when Mary Oldrey discusses how he, Gilles de Rais, made her husband a vampire. Later on he has a fight with Cornell and makes a quick escape with aid from Actrise after he discovers Cornell's half-wolf powers. He then reappears in the cutscene where you watch the wolf power captured from Cornell used to resurrect Dracula into the body of Malus.
Further on down the line, in 1852, he returns once more under the guise of Dracula himself in an attempt to stop the adventurers in the castle.
