Background

Leon Belmont is a hero of the Belmont Clan, perhaps the earliest known. A crusader knight in 11th-century Europe, he fights alongside his friend, Mathias Cronqvist, a brilliant tactician. Leon is betrothed to Sara Trantoul, a kind girl and daughter of a wealthy merchant. When she was kidnapped by a vampire named Walter Bernhard, Leon renounced his title of Baron and ventured alone and unarmed into the Forest of Eternal Night to rescue her. Inside, he is given a holy whip that's been blessed by Rinaldo Gandolfi, an alchemist.
