Background
Walter Bernhard is the main antagonist in Lament of Innocence, and a very powerful Vampire. He rules an area called Eternal Night, which is a large forest that is eternally shrouded in darkness, this is achieved through a magical item called the Ebony Stone.
Due to the boredom that comes with eternal "life", Walter enjoys luring brave young warriors to his castle to play cat-and-mouse games with them.
History

Not much is known about Walter before this date, but Rinaldo Gandolfi explains that he turned his daughter into a vampire.
1094
Walter kidnaps Baron Leon Belmont's betrothed, Sara Trantoul. After many battles, Leon finds Walter and defeats him with the Vampire Killer. Death, (now serving the one who posesses the Crimson Stone) appears and steals Walter's vampiric soul and transfers it into Mathias Cronqvist.
